This week, the KAIROS project took part in the 15th edition of the SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs), held in Slovenia from 1 to 4 December 2025.
The poster presented this year highlighted the enhanced spatial and temporal resolution achieved by the latest KAIROS nowcasting models and the benefits these improvements bring to aviation operations. The high-resolution configuration provides detailed, rapidly updating predictions of convective developments, while the larger-scale 0.25° model continues to play a key role in pre-tactical planning by offering stable, longer-range forecasts across Europe. Together, they demonstrate how AI-based weather forecasting can support both short-term decision-making and broader network management during disruptive weather events.
Alongside the poster, the team also showcased a live demonstration of the KAIROS Weather Dashboard, giving attendees the opportunity to explore real-time visualisations of the system’s forecasts and operational capabilities.
This year’s SIDs offered an excellent opportunity to share the project’s latest achievements, connect with aviation stakeholders, and continue advancing toward a more weather-resilient Digital European Sky.
